On July 1, 2005 the Hales Corners Police Department put into service a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe police package vehicle.  This is the first time the department has utilized a sport utility vehicle (SUV) in the fleet.  The Tahoe is a specially designed two wheel drive SUV to respond like a car, but with the capability of storing more emergency response equipment and personnel.  The accessibility of additional specialized equipment enables a more efficient response to calls for police service.

The Chevrolet Tahoe was purchased from Holz Chevrolet, here in Hales Corners.  The purchase of the Tahoe was made possible by a generous discount from Holz Chevrolet.  Additional equipment needed for the Tahoe was made possible through fund raising efforts of the Hales Corners Police Explorers and a grant by Wal-Mart, Inc.
