Domestic abuse is one of those "dirty" little secrets that is often hidden behind closed doors. It breaks up relationships and effects family and friends. It is also a CRIME and the police should be called immediately.
Under Wisconsin law, police officers are required to make an arrest when there are reasonable grounds to believe a imminent threat or act of physical violence has occurred between an adult and his or her spouse, former spouse, an individual with whom they reside or formerly resided with, or against an adult with whom the person has a child in common with.
Additional information and resources on domestic abuse is available from the Task Force on Family Violation, (414) 276-1911 or on the Internet at www.tffv.org.
