The Hales Corners Police Department has one Detective. He currently works a rotating shift assignment of 4 days on duty,  2 days off. To accommodated the size of our agency, the detective works different hours on weekdays and weekends and does work holidays. During the detective’s normal hours he takes care of the contacts with the business community, and functions as the liaison with the District Attorney Office and the Courts.

After the initial report is taken by a patrol division officer, the detective handles  all criminal investigations for the department with the exception of the very minor crimes. More complicated cases that require follow up are turned over to the Detective for additional investigation. The detective also prepares all search warrants and subpoenas for documents such as bank records and phone records.  He also handles questions from citizens regarding all aspects of criminal investigation. When time permits the detective bureau also does follow up on the municipal arrest warrants.
