Drug Abuse Resistance Education is a collaborative effort by law enforcement officers, educators, students, parents, and the community to significantly reduce/eliminate the use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs and the use of violent behavior among our children and youth.

HISTORY

D.A.R.E, was founded in 1983 by the Los Angeles Police Department and is currently taught in 75% of our nation’s school districts and more that 45 countries around the world.

CURRICULUM

The D.A.R.E. program is directed towards 5th grade students and strives to develop the capacities needed to enable students to take charge of their lives with emphasis on healthy, pro-social decision making skills regarding non-substance use and abuse.

D.A.R.E GRADUATION

 

The Hales Corners Police Department will be implementing it’s D.A.R.E. program in January 2005 and will be taught at the Hales Corners Elementary, Edgerton Elementary, St. Mary’s and Hales Corners Lutheran Schools.  The program will be taught to over 300 students every year.

The D.A.R.E. program is a nonprofit program that is funded by community groups, corporate sponsors and private donations.  If anyone is interested in providing funding or assisting with sponsoring the program please contact D.A.R.E. Officer Rick Vondrasek at (414) 529-6140.
